Background

After receiving my BFA in Communications Design from East Carolina University in 1999, I went on to work at several interactive agencies in North Carolina and Maryland before starting Randy Miller Design. In the past decade, as an agency consultant or working directly with clients, I’ve successfully launched over one hundred interactive projects.

Design philosophy

At the heart of my approach is the recognition that interactive graphic design is equally shaped by individual aesthetics, the specific interactive medium, and real world applicability. I transform messages and ideas into visual and interactive design by giving equal weight and consideration to my own diverse creative influences, industry best practices, and a practical understanding of what businesses actually need.

I’ve also made a conscious effort to work within several different mediums, believing that interactive design benefits the most from an interdisciplinary approach. Having to come up with creative solutions to the unique challenges that each medium presents keeps my design skills flexible and keen. In turn, this helps me generate fresh ideas and new perspectives that might not be immediately obvious to the specific medium. My work reflects the ongoing excitement and inspiration I feel when I transform a client’s creative ideas into visual form.
